Today I started painting lessons from a well known Canadian artist. I learned more on perception in two hours from him than I did on my own in two years. Now to practice it and next week he will teach me face on portraits. I am expecting it to be very helpful for my future artworks. I can't wait to go back and find out more the tricks of the trade. This man can do paintings with 50 people in them. What an artist!

My art of course is very different but I am not going to him to copy his style but to add some of his style to mine. He has very active paintings whereas mine are just look at me paintings. Usually of a singular subject but that is bound to change somewhat but I am ready for it! The next 16 weeks will be a lot of work study's as I intend to make the most of the classes. It is a relaxed program and each at his own level and speed but that is fine for me and just up my alley!  So I don't know what is coming my and the Art Colony's way lol!

Good for you! Nice when you can mesh with a class and teacher.

I need to learn the basics of using color with watercolours etc. I have always been a graphite girl and now I want color to fill my pages.

I started drawing but went into painting very quickly. I tried pastels but I was too messy with them and so went to acrylics. I have done a little oil but prefer acrylics. The class is very helpful to me already. I will do some lighthouse paintings soon and will post when finished.

Why don't you post the results of your lessons, Sylvia?
