My winter woes have turned into winter whoas! I  started the year off with a bang, declaring that I wanted to try my hand at art. Well, I have. I painted about 17 or 18 pictures in as many days. And I must say , it has been fun and certainly educational. Most of my little pictures have been well received by kith and kin,  though I know most are somewhat prejudiced by the fact that they love me and don't want to hurt my feelings. And many of my peers on The Art Colony site have been most generous with their .support.

But being a total greenhorn and trying to teach myself to paint, via free online painting tutorials has brought about the "whoas" of which I speak.  I've tried to paint at least a little every day, and constantly watch the videos when I have time.

But suddenly, it seems that nothing I've painted the last few days has seemed worth even keeping, much less showing anyone, especially My Honey, who has been completely supportive since I began.

He says that I am too hard on myself and too critical of my work. Perhaps he's right. I am just doing it for fun, after all. But still, don't we all want to be the best that we can be?

However, I will not give up. It, so far, has been my experience, that the picture, I think is my worst, is usually well received by everyone else. Go figure. Bring on Spring!

I think that your artwork is beautiful and shows so much that comes from the heart. I admire your ability to convery that quality. It's something that I search for in my own artwork. My husband says the same about my artwork and honestly thinks it wonderful. I don't see what he does, but it's ok. I have fun with it and occasionally do please myself with what I create. Continue on learning and growing Ronnie and never give up. It's all good!

Thanks Jill. I am my worst critic. My sweetheart is very supportive and constantly complimenting my work, but I say he is prejudiced because he loves me. So, it is nice to hear from someone else,
